Thanks to the privileged location of the house and the main routes nearby, Can Miquel, in Santa Coloma de Farners, in the region of La Selva, makes it easier for our guests to visit the main cultural spots of the province of Girona.

For those who love peace and rest, Santa Coloma de Farners has a wide offer of thermal and natural centers. For instance, in the region of La Selva, one can find the reputed Termes Orión, in a neoclassical-style building surrounded by a luxuriant poplar grove. Furthermore, only four kilometers away from Can Miquel it is possible to find the widely known Magma thermal centre. Also worth mentioning is the Sant Grau thermal resort, some thermal springs dating from the years 40 - 50 b.C., located in the village of Caldes de Malavella.

Also in Santa Coloma, every week a highly popular market is hold, whose origin comes from the XIVth century and which is of high cultural interest. Moreover, the Guilleries massif near the area must be taken into account, since it is an ideal place to go for a walk and get in touch with nature.

Still in the region of La Selva, visiting the village of Breda is an absolute must, due to the presence of the famous monastery of Sant Salvador. The town of Hostalric may also pay a visit, for in the XIth century a castle was built therein, as well as an important fortified area. Finally, some interesting places in the region of La Selva may also be, to name but a few, the magnificent town of Tossa de Mar, with the Roman villa of Ametllers, built around the Ist century b.C., and discovered in 1914.

In the region of El Gironès, the museums, monuments and the whole cultural offer of the city of Girona, only 22 kilometers away from Can Miquel, should be strongly pointed out.

As to the regions of Alt and Baix Empordà, the guests may visit the Dalí Museum, in the town of Figueres (Alt Empordà); only 25 km. away, the Costa Brava, an impressive set of beaches and coves of outstanding beauty; the Greek-Roman city of Empuries (Alt Empordà), of notable cultural interest, and even the natural park of Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, which extends all through the different bays of the Alt and Baix Empordà.

The region of La Garrotxa may offer interesting visits to the volcanic zone, an impressive natural site, and the town of Besalú, some 45 minutes away from Can Miquel.

Finally, it should be noted that Can Miquel has excellent communications with the main routes of the country: Vic is only 35 minutes away (45 km.), and the distance to Barcelona is of only 90 kilometers. The airport of Girona-Costa Brava is at only 15 minutes from the house.
